About Insight Scotland

Insight Scotland is a private practice based in Ayrshire, offering compassionate, professional psychological support through two specialist services:

The practice was founded by Anna McNamara, a fully qualified, insured and professionally registered counsellor, psychotherapist and clinical supervisor with extensive experience across therapeutic practice, education and community services. Anna holds a COSCA Diploma (Level 10) in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy and is professionally registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She is a COSCA Accredited Clinical Supervisor, a trained EMDR Practitioner (CPCAB), and has specialist training in both addiction and grief counselling, having worked in these fields before establishing her private practice.

Alongside her clinical work, Anna has a long-standing commitment to counselling education. She holds a Teaching Qualification in Further Education (TQFE) and has lectured in Relationship-Centred Counselling for over a decade. She continues to contribute to the development of the profession through the training and clinical supervision of trainee counsellors.

Before entering the counselling profession, Anna worked in stage management within community theatre before moving into community development, where she focused on promoting social inclusion, equality of opportunity and challenging systemic social injustice. Her work included adult education, community capacity building and youth work initiatives, alongside collaboration with services supporting people affected by addiction, homelessness, bereavement, domestic abuse, criminal justice involvement and youth rehabilitation.

Anna has also worked within the field of international development, advocating for global initiatives focused on poverty reduction, social justice and climate action.

Insight Scotland is built upon the belief that healing happens within safe, respectful and authentic therapeutic relationships. Anna brings together professional expertise, lived understanding and a compassionate, trauma-informed approach to create a space where clients feel heard, supported and empowered to make meaningful change.
